Working with Hardware Founders and Product Leaders

Practical support for teams building connected devices, consumer electronics, and physical products. From early prototypes through production reality.

The Challenge

Hardware is unforgiving. A single mistake in technical scoping, manufacturability, or team alignment can burn months of runway and derail a launch. Most teams don't need more processes or frameworks. They need someone who has designed, built, and shipped products and teams at scale. Someone who can spot expensive problems in product scope, technical feasibility, program costs, and team alignment before they compound, and help the team avoid or manage issues while they're still fixable.

How I Work

Reality Checks

Short, focused assessments to answer the critical questions: Does your prototype prove a product that can actually ship? Are technical risks understood and scoped correctly? Is the team set up to execute, or are there misalignments that will slow progress?

These engagements are 1-2 weeks, delivering a clear readout on product viability, system-level risks, and next steps.

Hands-On Support When Teams Are Stuck

Sometimes teams lose momentum. Priorities get fuzzy, scope creeps, or ownership isn't clear. Short-term interventions (2-4 weeks, part-time) help teams get unstuck and moving again.

This includes aligning product and engineering priorities, defining clear build goals, improving decision-making across functions, and removing blockers that are stalling progress.

Fractional Leadership

For teams that need ongoing senior product or R&D perspective without a full-time hire. This is hands-on guidance in a flexible, part-time format: setting technical direction, mentoring product leaders, navigating vendor and manufacturing decisions.

Typical engagements run a few days per week for 3-6 months, but each situation is unique.

Simple Process

  • Initial conversation: Understand where you are, what's working, what's not

  • Scope the engagement: Reality check, hands-on support, or fractional leadership

  • Get to work: Clear deliverables, regular check-ins, tangible progress

No complex proposals, no drawn-out sales cycles. If there's a fit, we move quickly.
